In this video, artist Tschabalala Self speaks about her latest exhibition at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Titled Tschabalala Self: By My Self, the show features 13 paintings from the artist, including a new set of works that respond to Henri Matisse's sculpture Two Women (originally titled Two Negresses). Speaking with the exhibition's curator, Cecilia Wichmann, Self talks through her creative process and her theory "of selfhood as a consciousness that is at once produced by external images and by an ongoing reworking and evolving of forms into a new whole."
