The work of photographer Omar Victor Diop is the focus of Jacqui Palumbo's CNN article. Putting figures like Trayvon Martin and Aline Sitoe Diatta side-by-side, Diop's series, Liberty, makes connections between moments of Black protest across eras and countries--creating an expansive narrative about the Black Diaspora's history and fight for liberation.

"The art I produce is an attempt to build another bridge between these [groups of] people that are actually one people -- that were separated by history and slavery and the colonial era," -Omar Victor Diop
