Still from the Black Audio Film Collective's Handsworth Songs.

Through June 21st, the Lisson Gallery has made the Black Audio Film Collective's (BAFC) Handsworth Songs available for streaming through their website. Directed and produced by BAFC members John Akomfrah and Lina Gopaul respectively, Handsworth Songs examines the 1985 riots that took place across England in Handsworth, Birmingham, and Tottenham. With so many voices today taking to the streets against police brutality, Handsworth Songs feels incredibly (and eerily) timely.
