Ming Smith in Arthur Jafa's: "A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions"

AGBS

In 2019, photographer Ming Smith was interviewed by the curator of photography at Moderna Museet Anna Tellgren, during the run of the exhibition "Arthur Jafa: A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions (Featuring Ming Smith, Frida Orupabo and Missylanyus)". Jafa's exhibition invited Smith and the artist Frida Orupabo to participate in the experience, which explored how Black culture has influenced Western culture throughout the 20th and 21st century. In the video, Smith talks about her artistic practice, her relationship with Jafa, and speaks about some of her featured photographs from the 1970s-1990s.
