Finding Joy in Portraits by Queer Artists of Color

'We lay in a bed of queen anne’s lace and I offer you twenty tons of honeysuckle clover'

Naima Green, 2013.

In a piece for The Cut, Andrew Nguyen writes about Tariq Dixon's new exhibition Mien which offers images of queer love and joy in the face of media violence. Each of the featured artists explore the intersections of their identities as queer BIPOC.

All of the work in the exhibition is up for sale to benefit the Ali Forney Center to combat LGBTQ youth homelessness in NYC.

"If you’re looking for a moment of respite, a new photography show called Mien is uplifting individual queer black and brown voices to highlight the joy and beauty in those identities."
