Lose your self in the story and scenery of Jason Fitzroy Jeffers' film Papa Machete.
In 2016, AGBS screened the short film Papa Machete-- which pays homage to a man, and a vanishing piece of Haitian history. Jason Fitzroy Jeffers, one of the executive producers and writers, and Michael Dylan Rogers, visited UT Austin to discuss the film as it highlights a practice long shrouded in mystery. The film, which follows Alfred Avril, allows viewers to peer into his world and learn more about an art which Avril has fought to protect in the face of globalization. Stream the short film through Vimeo, Studio Anansi, or through Papa Machete's website.
