Artists Raashan Ahmad, Nikesha Breeze, and Tigre Bailando formed the Earthseed Black Arts Alliance as a way to build community among, and garner support for, Black creatives within New Mexico. Alex De Vore's Santa Fe Reporter profile interviews Earthseed's co-founders, detailing how the trio met and how their personal art-making has influenced the collective's mission. Speaking about their desire for celebration and visibility during a time of turmoil, the artists hope that Earthseed will champion networking opportunities among Black artists, boost available resources, and aid in fundraising Black-led projects.

"There's a really distinct and incredible cultural contribution that Black folk have been making—and Black Indigenous folk and Brown folk…this is an incredibly rich part of our Northern New Mexico." -Nikesha Breeze
