Cartography: A Black Woman's Response to Museums in the Time of Racial Uprising

In a blogpost published on the Incluseum's website, Dr. Porchia Moore outlines her skepticism towards museums that have issued statements of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement but have yet to lay the groundwork for creating systemic changes within their institutions. She points out that museum professionals have continuously called for change within the field for years. As many call for resources to address racial equity and inclusion, Moore reminds us that the resources have been here for years - we just need to listen and open ourselves to radical change.

“We “cartographers” for racial equity and inclusion in museums have been mapmaking for quite some time. I love the work that I do. And yet, I am tired of offering up my maps. Because it is clear that not everyone can read them." - Porchia Moore
