Across West Africa, new art institutions are focusing on experimentation, preservation, and sustainability. These spaces have taken the form of museums, artist residencies, project spaces, and architectural transformations in cities like Lagos, Ibadan, Tamale, Accra, and Lome. For this Artsy feature, Jareh Das highlights seven of these institutions--including the Treehouse in Lagos, founded by artist, former-Austinite, and University of Texas lecturer, Wura-Natasha Ogunji.

"[The Treehouse] encourages artists to present work which pushes their ideas, aesthetics, and practice rigorously.” -Wura-Natasha Ogunji
